Hello, I bought my first new engine in many years. MTH Hudson Imperial Lehigh. It will run and then stop. Sometimes it won't start but there are sounds but lights not on in loco. Seems like a draw bar issue (have never had one of these and miss the connecting wire.) Called Trainworld and told to push in with screw driver but does not seem to stay and comes undone over switches. Should I purchase a new one and try to install? Pain to send back.

dochoot: you might want to check out a thread of mine where I complain about the drawbar. There are several good suggestions in it.
I used 2 of them to resolve my engine/tender's issues. I'm talking about a steamer.
The first is that I didn't know that there is a hidden connection underneath the cab in the engine - that one was my main problem. I really had to play some games to keep it in place. I believe I posted an image of how I'm now keeping them together - 2 weeks now.
the other was where the drawbar connects to the tender. It too kept coming undone. I believe I posted an image of what I did there too.
Both are tricky as both allow for the sounds to continue (since they are in the tender) but all engine functions shut down.

Thanks. So ridiculous as well as typical of the hobby. I will try the zip tie trick but visually, doesn't really seem to be hanging out.
Used a small black zip tie on the tender. Seems to work fine and ran quite a bit with out a problem for the first time. Thanks for help.
