Hey all, I just received another new wood side billboard reefer made by MTH.

This is the second MTH reefer I've received that has what I would call "Coupler arm wobble" for lack of a better term. New out of the box the couplers appear to hang down towards the track at the coupler and are very loose.

The screw mount is slightly too long. When the shouldered  truck mounting screw is tight there is still a gap between the shoulder on the screw and the truck bolster. I guess you could add another washer if you had one tiny enough but I elected to cut off about 1/32 of the plastic screw mount. this allowed the truck screw to engage the truck before bottoming out.

File this away for future use.

OK, Mark.  You've got to stop showing us these reefers - too much temptation! LOL!  I think you posted something about the Apache Brewing car before and the Cigar one recently.  I just saw an ad for the Apache Reefer and I keep thinking about getting one.  Problem is I've got way too many reefers already!  They sure are nice, though.!

Did the Manhattan Brewing Company really exist?

Edit:  I just answered my own question - http://www.manhattanbrewing.com/

Anyway, nice fix.  Thanks for sharing.

>> I think maybe MTH's overseas manufacturer needs to look at the floor molds for these cars and adjust them accordingly.

Speaking for myself only, I am all in favor of describing problems and solutions out in the public.  Everyone benefits from these types of messages.  I am concerned, however, that the responsible folks at MTH (or AF) may or may not be lurking on these forums and they may not get the message.

Is it possible to send copies of complaint/solution messages directly to the folks at MTH/AF?  Is there a QA Manager at either company to whom stuff like this can be sent?  If not, why not?

Hopefully, informing MTH/AF of problems will insure the issue disappears before the next batch of cars/locos arrives.  Wishful thinking, perhaps, but worth doing in my opinion.

Thanks, Mark.

Cheers.........Ed L.
