MTH Youngstown & Republic Steel Switchers

Glad you like them brother!

Are there smoke units in either of them?  (you can't always trust the catalog write-ups!)

Since I was born, raised, and matured in Youngstown this YS&T yard goat was a must have.  And decades before had bought the Lionel YS&T slag cars. Plus later saw here on the forum that a hobby shop in Warren had  a commemorative YS&T ore car made.

Did not realize that there was a Republic yard goat or may have bought that one too.  My EX worked at Republic Truscon.

Thanks Dave!! PRRRONBH, Yes, that ore car was from Andrew's Hardware Store. I heard only 50 were made??? Can not confirm that for sure. 🙄

Jeff and Dave, They both look great!!

Jeff, They will look great running on your layout.  There are plenty of places for them to push cars there!

For those folks out there that are running them, are there smoke units in either of these two MTH diesels?

The S2 is a Premier with smoke

The SW1 is Railking with no smoke

Do you think there is room in the RailKing Republic Steel switcher to add one?  Its tall stack is screaming for a smoke plume!

No.  The board supports a smoke unit but there is no room in that unit.

Too bad. 

I haven't really looked, but with MTH also into HO; I thought if they made a smaller smoke unit for HO, then one of those might fit.
