It's that time of year, the apple, orange, peach & grapefruit trees are full of
blooms and the Hawthorns are really coming alive. Must be spring. For me, that
usually means I do more train stuff in the garage as the evenings stay nice
pretty late. What is your spring/summer routine with your trains. Do you slow
down to enjoy the outdoors or????

I have had a couple of Birthdays since doing any appreciable work on my little layout. So, I expect to work on it in late Spring and early Summer to slowly catch up as much as possible.

Anyway, the Pullmonary MD says to stay out of the pollen and heat which is my newest excuse when the Domestic CEO starts the flower planting ritual.

Sorry, I have to say I am pleased the rest of the north east was able to share in our "normal for Syracuse NY" winter snow.  We are actually slightly below our average snow fall.  At the moment, we are at 96.5", but they take the official measurement behind the jet engines at Hancock International Airport.

On the plus side, great hobby weather for us!

I post these picture usually on Facebook.  It's still March.   Spring doesn't come to some places until late July.   Teton Wilderness, Jackson, Wyoming  trail work. 2010.  Click on the underline phrase to link.  Yes , this is train related.  There are pictures of the group working on grades for new trails, and there is one picture of a very nice mule train.     Also note that even in July at this altitude there was frost in the morning.

One of my favorites.  Paint Brush

U.S. Forestry Service, Dept. of Agriculture issue.  These beautiful animals belong to you and me. One very good looking train

I actually do more in the spring and summer only because I hate the hot weather. Although I do allot the rest of the year also.

As far as weather now it is still cold and it seems we get snow showers every 3rd day or so. For the second straight year we got very little accumelating snow here in the Philly area but it has been very damp.

I go full bore with my trains until the York meet in April.  Then I start to gear back somewhat to prepare for Spring Turkey and trout season in West Virginia which begins the last week in April.  After that, cycling and hiking take up much of the summer and early autumn but I still manage to find time to run and work with my trains.  Late October though Thanksgiving means more hiking, small game and deer hunting.  From Thanksgiving until York in April its full tilt for trains.  You can never have enough hobbies.

ah...springtime on Ohio.seemingly endless rain, just cold enough to make the mud not quite solid, your feet sink down a couple inches with each step.and once in a great while Mother Nature plays a cruel joke and gives us a 60+ degree day then back to the cold. remember the opening of the Beverly Hillbilles, where the oil squirts out of the ground? I had water do that when I walked thru the yard the other day.

Yeah, with warmer weather more time spent outside and with my summer toy...as soon as it's back from the paintshop.
