This is my best idea for using the back corner of the inside of the tunnel.

It sought of looks like a Disney Ride.

Actually it's the rock wall caving in and I hired a bunch of workers to go in and clean it up.

I am waiting for a few more N scale hoppers to use as the filled cars with all the broken up rocks.

Then I will ballast the floor and that will be done.

Thank You ALL for the great comments.

This is the 1st time I have ever tried my hand at landscaping in such a small way. When I made the tunnel I thought, what can I do with all that space in the back corner. Lots of tossing nights thinking and this is what I came up with. Now I am going to sprinkle some granite pieces mixed with some course ballast and cover the floor so that is done. I have to make one more thing. It is going to be a burning barrel for the "guys" to warm up in the damp tunnel.

I am having the time of my life building this setup.

I just wish I could take the complete basement now instead of a few more years.

Gottagogotacall..

BTW..You can only see inside the tunnel from the edges of the layout. You gotta PEEK In.

Good idea of using N scale.  It has been a few years but I need to find the pic of our inside tunnel, my sun set up some Dinosaur bones in it.  I will look in our photos on the computer and see what I can find.  Nice work and its good to have lights inside the tunnel.  Now put a camera with video and set it on a flat car and run it through the tunnel.  Makes for a good movie.  Nick

Re: You can only see inside the tunnel from the edges of the layout. You gotta PEEK In.

This Easter Egg (semi hidden work) of your layout is interesting.  Video from a passing train would be icing on the cake.

I'd like to borrow your idea for my subway tunnel.  What make/model of the N Scale did you use?

Thanks again you guys..

Anyone can borrow my idea. It's not patented..LOL

Every once in awhile even the "newbies" in this hobby come up with a good idea.

The "men" in the tunnel were all painted by me!! I painted them White, Red and Yellow so they would stand out under the dim lighting. I used a LM317 Voltage regulator to dim the 12v lights down to about 7-8 volts.

Tonight I just picked up a few more N Scale Load cars.

Now I can set them all together so you will see a few from each end of the portals.

I am working on the Burning Barrel and then the ballast goes in.

All the N scale cars are mixed brands from a junk box at my LHS. I paid $2.00 each for 5 of them today. One does not even have trucks, but you wont notice that in the shadows. "jus don't tell anyone"

OGR and You Tube is where I have been getting most of my ideas and Help from.

Soooooooooo

Thank You all once again.

Brian,

Both the idea for the scene and it's implementation is outstanding. The N scale is a perfect match for the scene.

I have been thinking about making a coal mining scene on a mountain. Based on your photo I am thinking the N scale might look good as a small coal moving train coming out of the mine or just moving coal from one area to anotheretc.

I sure hope you post photos when it is finished.

Thanks for the photos

Ed

All these comments are making me blush...
I have Never done this before.

I am surprising myself with some of this work.

It's ALL your layouts and ideas that keep me up at night thinking of my next move.

Here are a few pictures of the Mountain and Slopes Finally Painted and Ready for trees and stuff.

Keep you posted as things progress...
