The new Lionel catalog has for me some really good items, like finally an Amtrak diesel and individual sound boxcars.  A standout is the new issue of the Daylight GS-4 and Freedom Train.    But here is the rest of the story.  As a train crazy kid growing up on the SP in Southern Arizona, I spent my weekends at the train station.  By that time, the streamliners were already diesel powered, but the secondary passenger trains were still steam powered, almost always by destreamlined GS-4's.  Occasionally we would see a real Daylight still in prewar streamlining, but regular visitors were #4444 and sometimes #4443.  So, what does Lionel do but offer as additional GS-4 numbers,  #4443 and #4444!  My engines.  Sadly, I never saw them in their glory when in full Daylight regalia, but what a temptation - but do I need another GS-4 to add to my one plus two GS-2's?   Oh the temptation.
