I was thinking the same thing, you would think GE would know what the HORNS on THEIR locomotives would sound like.

 

Having said that, I think thats another testament to how iconic and "timeless" the steam locomotive is. Be it in image on a sign or whistle on TV.  Steam is to trains as a "coke" is to any carmel colored carbonated beverage.

my guess is that GE hired a advertising agency to do the olympic ad, it was run pass the GE ad managers who gave a thumbs up without paying attention to what was in it.  Then again maybe they did and did it to see who was paying attention.

 

Speaking of ad goofs anyone remeber the JC Penny(?) ad for Lionel train steamer but the tender was facing wrong way and I think a set of wheels were not on the track.
