After having read some negative observations about the Legacy 611, and having also read about the positive aspects of the earlier TMCC version of the 611, I located and purchased a MINT TMCC 611, (#38095).
I previously owned and operated both the earlier 606 and 611 with TMCC, and I especially liked the improved sounds and smoke unit on the Rail Sounds 5.0 version (611).
Brown should deliver it tomorrow!

I will operate the 611 with my Legacy control system.
I have had all three on my layout and the 611 with rail sounds 5.0 / dual fat boy speakers is the best sounding of them all.

Dual "Fat Boy" speakers, Pittman motor, very realistic variable whistle sounds plus correctly aligned engine/tender stripes make this a desirable engine!
Glad to have it back on my roster!

WOW - those twin "Fat Boy" speakers really blast out some nice and crisp RailSounds and that whistle is awesome! Even better than my Vision Line Hudson!
I am running this engine with the Cab-1 mode on the Legacy Controller. The variable whistle is well executed, and although the chuff rate is 2 per revolution, it still sounds great! RailSounds 5.0 was a big improvement back in 2005.
I am pleased that I purchased the later TMCC version over the recent Legacy version!
Try using the Legacy Generic Module,it will improve the performance of the loco,I have done all of my TMCC Locos.

By the way, Gunrunner John has a Chuffer Unit that really enhances the Smoke unit, and gives the engine Rule 17 lighting. Also, he can add 4 Chuffs per revolution for more realistic sound and operation.
By giving this engine an ID number with information by using one of the white modules in your Legacy Set, you will love the nice Legacy Like commands available through the Cab 2 Remote. It's very simple to put this fine Locomotive into the Legacy System.

Believe I have my TMCC 611 correctly entered into my Legacy 1.51 control unit. Only wish it were possible to turn OFF the smoke unit remotely without fooling with the engine ON/OFF switch! 
NOTE: I do not wish to modify my engine in any way.

You can turn the smoke unit off with the Cab 2, which means you can leave the switch set to on, but Aux 1 then press the 8 button on the remote for off, the 9 button for on...
Its very convenient for which ever you desire.

This "baby" set me back $1100, but it was well-worth it! I see the new MTH J has had its share of issues, and the Legacy as well! 
I am running a set of MTH passenger cars behind my new (old) 611! 
And, as always, using a Z-4000!
