This was something I experimented with a few years ago. I had just put new flooring down and my wife was out of town for a few days. So, I started laying track and came up with this idea. I always thought it would make an interesting display if this was on a big table and have a small building in the center for the train to go into and disappear down under the table. I know it's a crazy idea.

Interesting and I like the movement. However, this solidified for me why I need eventually move from Fastrack to Atlas when I build my next layout. That track noise is deafening.
Well, being on a solid floor with no sound deadening material under it doesn't help! 
But you're right, it sure is noisy track!
