Although I would love to run scale passenger cars my space and funds don't agree but I am putting together a set that will look and run great.

I decided to use the Lionel scale WP F3's from 2004 and K-Line 15" CZ passenger cars Which have interiors, close couple and look great.

Here's a few pictures,  not great pics but you get the idea.

Very nice train, David.

For others interested in 15-inch cars, Lionel produced a very nice passenger set circa 2003 under the external label "Burlington Zephyr" as a 4-pk (6-15311) and follow-on 2-pk (6-29149).  But the cars were individually labelled "California Zephyr".  Even back in 2003, Lionel created a CZ with a domed observation!!!

Don't hold me to it, but those may have been the very first 15" passenger cars that Lionel offered with detailed interiors vs. their earlier passenger cars with window-silouhettes.

David

The 15 inch cars look pretty good with the F units.  I use the Lionel cars with the silouhettes, from before the Burlington set came out.  For add-ons (diner/coach) I use the Lionel Santa Fe surfliners.  The fluting is the same.

The 15 inch cars don't look as good with the D&RG Alco PA's or Burlington E units.

Pingman,  Nice picture of the Altamont hills.

David:

You made an excellent choice in both engine power and the matching passenger cars. Theses Lionel diesels in my opinion are some of the best F units Lionel has done to date. The detail is very good and they run like champ.

In terms of the K-Line 15" passenger cars, you could not have done better. They are just superb. This makes a great addition to your inventory.

Well done, David!!!!!!!
