Now you need to share the plans and parts list !! Really awesome!
Very cool. I also would love to know how you did that
Nice job, and the bridges look great!
Gerry Anderson would be proud of you.
(well, Derek Meddings, but you get the idea)

Your layout is really neat, the bridges work very nicely. Thank you very much for the nice video. Happy Railroading Everyone
hello and thank you all for your replies.
Very impressive. Did the mechanisms come off of SUV tailgates?
Dale
pennsylover, no the mechanisms did not come off suv tailgates but came from surplus center. their 5-1577 linear actuators. the hardware was stuff i gathered around the house and the on30 bridge i made. the main bridge are 2 bridges from atlas hooked together. setting this thing up took some time but it works pretty good.
Very cool bullfrogs, both the "bascule" type bridges AND the layout.
Got more layout pics???
GREAT!!!

Awesome! Whats the stroke on them?
Well executed, good job! This actuator approach was neck and neck with a lift table on my list of methods to access the innards of my future layout.
Has anyone tried running one of these actuators at a higher voltage level to see if they could travel a bit faster?
Masterfully done. Great idea executed just as well.
That is awesome...I like the layout's fascia as well, gives a neat impression.
I just have a lift-out bridge section to the entrance of my utility room...that was the extent of my skills, and barely at that.
thanks again for all your replies. the stroke on the large bridge is 12 inches and the other one is 8 inches. as far as voltage goes, i tried various transformers and found one that had duel voltages on it. 12vdc and 13.8vdc. both had 5a and i used the 13.8vdc which works fine for me. didn't want to burn them up. later i will send more pictures of my layout. i tried to get ogr to do a segment on my layout but haven't heard anything.
Very nice, I have the same setup for going into my train room. If I was at home I would post a video of it for you.
Also great looking layout!
Those bridges are a thing of beauty, I suspect when I get around to doing mine Rube Goldberg would shake his head at it *lol*. I would love to be able to do a vertical lift bridge, like the relics that currently go across various rivers in the Meadowlands of NJ (ie giant swamp), but shudder at what I would actually build *lol*.
lionelsky, here are a few pictures of my layout that you requested. a little blurry one some of them but i don't have a good camera. enjoy.
