There's no mistaking the superior attention to detail from 3rd Rail.  The treatment of the grab irons on the pilots is brilliant, allowing them to fold so they don't bind against the body on tight curves.  Until now I was unaware that 4800 had steps to access the pantographs on both ends, like those found on most of the PRR box cabs.  It appears the interlocking guards along side of the steps are missing their rectangular guard plates on top.   It will be fun to compare this one with the new VL offering.

Really sharp. I've had complaints about some 3rd Rail products QC and engineering from time to time - I own some, so it's not fantasy - but there is just something about brass "thiness" and 3rd Rail's typically exquisite paint work that really can captivate. Beautiful loco (and this from a NYC fan); with all the also nearly-as-exquisite die-cast and plastic models (and paint work) available today it takes quite a bit to stand out.
