Last night I went to an auction where I bought a box of buildings. Well, when I got home I discovered that it had a smoke unit in it. I think it might be a sleuthe type unit, but I am unsure.I took pictures of the outside to see if anyone knows anything about it. I tried it and it works, but I don't want to use it until I find out more about it.

More information would be helpful. It's hard to see much, the way the unit is encapsulated in resin or something. If it is a Seuthe unit (not Sleuthe) it will have a post in the center. From what I can see, it doesn't look like a Seuthe unit - a Seuthe unit is a straight cylinder, while the unit in the picture appears to have "wings" on the sides (which might be just a mount for the smoke unit). Does this unit have a fan, or is it just a straight smoke generator with no fan?

It could be a seuthe just not an O scale seuthe. Seuthe has made many sizes and styles over the years for HO as well as O but stuck in that goo it'd be hard to tell what it was.

Walthers carries seuthe you might do a search on their web site and find one that matches it. Just don't assume it's O scale.

It looks like the standard POLA 'Burning building' unit.  There is normally a flashing red light unit included with the building too. This is used to simulate the flames.

I see that your building has a label saying 'Tax Office'.  This is always a popular building to model as being on fire.

Thanks so far everyone. Basically their is not much to see. Inside that box, is a long tube (heating element) that goes vertical above a little reservoir shaped like half a sphere (for the fluid to pool?).I would love to get a photo of the inside, but I can't get the camera in there.

The building does have a red flashing light, and a yellow light (and a green one, but I think that was a replacement bulb).

Do I just add fluid to it? How much? I mean it looks like it could hold two bottles of Megasteam lol.
