Fellow 0 scalers,
I've had a mild case of the plague lately, but I made some progress on the layout in anticipation of the local group coming over next week.

very nice, thanks for the pics. It reminded me that I need to get some telephone poles.
who makes those trees/bushes?
Wow! That's a lotta trees. NICE work. Thanks for the great photos.

Chris...excellent scenic developement! It is very much the N & W look. Those are the super trees your using, is that true?
Bob
Thanks for posting the photos, beautiful! Some of the best scenery I've ever seen. When you get time can you post more?
Absolutely amazing scenery work. That hands down is the N&W.
Will visitors to your layout get the same plague that results in this scenery?
very nicely done. The new telegraph poles reminds me of the N&W Y6B Doubleheader video on you tube of a pair of them climbing around a bend.
MAN IS THAT COOL!
Thanks for sharing!
Don't be fooled. Those are pictures from 'Trains" June 1987.
Very nice scenery detail work!

Christopher,
That is absolutely spectacular scenery!!!
Malcolm
excellenté Chris, really well done!
I'm thinking you should get sick more often.
Thanks allot guys.
Bob, Yes, the trees are Super Trees. They have the Noch leaves on them.
The scenery plague.
Fantastic photos. I am going to need as many trees down the road. Not looking forward to that
WOW!!! Christopher your scenery is the best!

Nice work Chris! I always enjoy seeing your layout progress.

Very nice! How about a quick "How I did it" for those of us that are scenery screwups!
Frank
yes minus the weathering
Great muted colors Christopher......really perfect. I need to make a lot of trees as well and this really gives me inspiraiton....thanks for posting....
The colors for me are what seals the deal. Too often the colors of trees and schrubs or grasses are just far to bright or vivid IMHO. I love the softer coloring.
Chris, looks great but a few poles are a bit crooked.
Thanks guys. Oh yeah, I still have to do ballast and weathering of those darn shiny trains.
Trainman,
Next time you come over I'll show you a straight pole. BTW thanks for giving me leads on making the line poles.
Fgroza,
1 build up foam base and sculpt it.
2 Paint it brown.
3 Glue and cover with leaf litter and or dirt.
4 Randomly put in some patches of green ground foam.
5 Plant static grass in areas where trees will not go.
6 Plant the trees by poking into base with a nail, or plant the base of the trees in cedar colored caulk.
7 Cover tree base and caulk with leaf litter, static grass and ground foam.
Ok I clearly am a knucklehead but what is leaf litter?
Christopher may have a different opinion but for me it is real dead leaves ground up in a food blender, strewn about, and oversprayed with glue/water mixture. Really.
Don't use your wife's blender or no more cool cars in the mail for you!!
I have a blender just for this in my shop (my wife gave it to me after I "made it useless for food") I use pine needles to chop up I think they grind better than leaves.
Ken
Ok thanks for the explanation guys I appreciate it.
Lol...it's funny you say that, as I was reading rheils' response she saw it and said "Don't even think of touching the blender!"....Well off to get a blender tomorrow...
Chris,
They pretty much covered it. Leaf litter is actually the description for Scenic Express' brand of the same chopped up stuff.
Ok great, Thanks Chris.
Christopher: Excellent use of texture. glad to see that you ballast last like the real railroads. I always wonder why modelers ballast first and mess up their track. How about photos from other parts of the layout!

Chris those scenes look great! CWEX, the video is really cool too. I'm too young to have ever seen a steamer but they sure must have been a spectacle to see up close.
John
Anyway you'd care to share your trackplan??
One component of the success of this superb - SUPERB! - layout is that the scenery dwarfs the trains, just like in real life. This is something advocated by my favorite editor of Model Railroader magazine, Paul E. Larsen. This is difficult to do in O Scale, as often, the trains ARE the scenery!
Totally awesome Christopher. You photography is equally amazing! Thanks for sharing.I really enjoy your pics .
Looks great, Chris! Keep it up!
Thanks for the comments guys. I'll keep pluggin' away at it.
Gorgeous layout & superb craftsmanship.
STUNNING!
WuuuWOOOOW!
Chris,
Awesome stuff!
