That's like asking me to pick a favorite child, LOL!

Seriously, the blue wave means the most to me as that is what drove every train I worked on during my days with the LIRR. However, the red, white, and blue is tough to beat as I love a train with patriotic colors (two of my very limited non-LIRR trains are the American Freedom Train and the Preamble Express). The MP15 can still be seen in that paint scheme today on the LIRR, so it is the only current LIRR equipment available in O gauge (that I can think of right now).

The new C-Liner is exquisite though - the paint scheme is very interesting and it is a gorgeous model (even though it was before my time). I have the original C-Liners MTH did of the LIRR grey with orange ends scheme and as much as I love the old version, this one is far prettier.

The bottom line is, I'm very happy with each one of these!

Very diplomatic answer.  Haha
I actually am trying to be a collector of all things LIRR in o gauge.  I am two shy of the same equipment that you own.  Like I said I m debating getting the blue wave.  With Christmas coming up I don't know if it will still be around.  With that being said I would say my favorite right now is the Red wave GP-38.  The mp-15 is a close second.  I only have a 5x8 layout so space is sparse.  This has become a lot of fun.  The searching, the acquiring.

Jjmmagoo, I only have 5 1/2 x 7 1/2, so basically only a test oval. Space is at a premium and the kids get the rest of the basement - for now I feel your pain, It kills me to have most on the wall and to only rotate one or two at a time to run.

Andy, The G5s is my favorite also. I bought a Pennsy one to re-letter right before I found mine (Sunrise Special #21), I was getting desperate haha. Still looking for the #39, they are extremely rare. I see the tender and running gear for #39 often in Riverhead, I hope they get it running! I have the S2 when they did it in PS2 a few years back - it is a great little engine, you will not be disappointed!

Speaking of LIRR, I know Lionel did a special run with M7 commuter train, I call it the sliver slug.  I'm on it just about everyday for work.  Despite me owning 95% MTH trains I really like this set.  I guess my question is more like three questions, 1) does lionel or MTH plan on making the diesel EMD DMC-30 commuter train?  2) has anyone converted there Lionel train to DCS?  I know that is costly but might be worth it to but only if the cost isn't too insane.  3) when will this copyright lawsuit with the MTA against MTH be resolved?

Over the years and living on the Port Washington line I could remember seeing the blue wave and I do remember the red wave engine.  I distinctly remember how weathered and rusted the engines all looked.  I still see the MP-15 hauling around, just absolutely amazed how beat up they all look.  I know nothing can look shiny and new and the usage they get it most be tough to take a time out to get a make over, I just see a pattern.  The LIRR uses the worst paint or theses work horses are just used a hell of a lot.

Thanks for sharing!
