Stations sounds are on the MTH site here - https://mthtrains.com/sites/de...180221a-webckout.mp3

IMW decals are incorrect. Railroad should not be on them also the fonts are incorrect. O should not be round.

Yeah, well I couldn't even find them there. Do you have a suggestion for decals that are correct? That would be appreciated. Although I don't mind creating a fantasy piece either. I just don't want it bare.

Turn your audio or speaker settings UP to hear the AUDIO file

You can also go here and click on product number, support then MP3.  Sample audio MP3's are available for most engines. https://mthtrains.com/search/30-20476-1

If you have PC skills, the white panels with M's can be printed out, cut, clear sprayed and attached using 3m spray glue. Photos soon after I install all the proper mods.

I just heard the sounds and I couldn't be more thrilled! Train is signed up as an oyster bay to LI city via lower Montauk branch. I remember seeing these in passenger service all the time as a kid, and changing at Jamaica to the lower montauk diesels just so I could ride down the branch, and change to the #7 Redbirds, then ride back up over the sunny side yards. Good childhood memories in this piece. Can't wait till Friday when mine arrive!

So it goes....Rockville Center, Baldwin, Freeport, Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa, Masapequa Park , Amityville, Copaigue, Lindenhurst, Babylon........

Cool!

Does one of the models actually have this sequence?  If so, which road number?

All three engines on the MTH Web site link to the "LI city via lower Montauk branch" announcements for the MP3 file under the support tab, the same audio that SIRT posted the direct link to the MP3 file.

I'd love to order one if it has the Babylon line stations listed above, but I need to know which one it is (the videos posted so far in the thread also seem to be for the LI city via Montauk version).  MTH links below, hit the support tab for each and listen to the MP3.  All are the same file, unless something really goofy is going on with my computer.

MTH 171

MTH 162

MTH 170

Thanks!

30 year wait for me! Really nice weathering job, I like that you cut that buldging window out too.

The snap in storm window just pops out but plastic trim will need to be added. Paint one side silver to show open window. Modify - trim engineer and reverse as desired. Remove chain and brake wheel, doesn't belong on LI units. Apply black soot powder to bright blue areas to achieve proper color. Add black wash to vents and grills. Add 2nd snow plow, paint door handles, spray couplers, mask windows, seal with dullcote. Print out logos on photo paper and clear coat. Apply using light spray adhesive.               3 evening project.

I believe there is only one sound file as Ben pointed out.   I wish it was the Babylon route. Majority of Long Islanders were more familiar with the out east branches.

Quality issues & over-sites have been pointed out. MTH will be working on a new MP3 freight sound and soft key corrections for an optional down load.

Issues found so far:

No LIN light in cab as stated

No squealing brake sounds (Auto brakes on/off in remote don’t do anything)

No rev labor up or down feature in idle or operation as stated

RK’s don’t have active lighted markers but LMK feature comes up in remote.

RK’s don’t have lighted number boards but LNB feature comes up in remote.

Gold sound sticker on bottom shows “PS3 FREIGHT” on a passenger engine. Last minute change caused by out side source.

I hope to see the improvements made soon. R&D was developed in several locations & people leading to the missed details.

Thanks for the tips on how to get the engine closer to correct. I do t understand how Mth could leave out the squealing brakes sounds! Every train has squealing breaks and since I ordered both blue & white engines I will put the freight sounds download in one of them. I like the oyster bay sounds as the Babylon branch is electrified and diesels dont start making stops on that route until they reach Babylon, then further east. Bayshore, islip, great river, Sayville.... so on and so on till The hamptons and Montauk.

Well believe it or not, my RED R-12 SUBWAYS don't have squealing brakes either, another oops! The conductors voice is one of the best though for subways. 1st WH R-36's still has the best sound set from what I own. "Coney Island Yard on the mic"   There are probably others that are good as well but I stopped buying due to all the past issues. R62 poor pulling power and such.

The stations were supplied by a NY area guy. Even though the train didn't stop at some, the announcement is still active, funny! Most Long Islanders that I talked to never heard of Penny Bridge.

I have the red R12's too; no brakes, door bell sounds on an R12, and no car horns or police sirens on an old Bronx el! Someone fell asleep on that one! I think my favorite of the old subways is the R21's.

regarding the mp15 sounds, yeah I believe the only active station on the lower Montauk branch at that time was Richmond hill. And only a few trains per day stopped. I think if they left out penny bridge and fresh pond and put in like Sea Cliff, Roslyn, and Glen Cove it would be a better representation of an oyster bay rush hour train.

Hey guys I stand corrected in my last reply to Sirt. The stations along the lower montauk branch were in service until 1998, they were closed when MTA introduced the new double deck cars that required high platforms.IMG_6727IMG_6725IMG_6730IMG_6729IMG_6728 Here's some photos of fresh pond station. There was no real platform... just some ballast with overgrown weeds during the in service years. The entrance was behind a used car lot on metropolitan Ave were you would open the fence door and walk through a garbage infested walkway to an overpass. LI city passengers walked strait down wile east bound passengers crossed the overpass and were provided a shack to shelter them from the rain. Notice the bushwick branch tracks in the 3rd photo. The last photo is a pic of mp15's pulling p72's Into Glendale station along the branch.

Thanks.  I re-read the thread, I thought maybe I had missed something.

I did see Ben's response earlier, but I took his reply as just meaning the road number he had did also have the Station Stop effects instead of just more generic PSA.  (I had seen someone else ask that question earlier in the thread).

I was immediately drawn to the earlier post by RSJB18 with the Babylon stops as I grew up not too far from one of those stations.  (and another bonus, the line also includes Freeport, where Nassau Hobby is located!)  I didn't realize he was possibly just joking about the specific stops.

I guess I'm going to pass.  I have the one that was done several years ago.  Had the Station Stop announcements been for the Babylon line, I would have tried to order one of the new ones, but I'm not as intrigued by the listed stops.

Yes, the Babylon stops would be nice. But i have no other LIRR engine, so just hearing JAMAICA will be a plus. And it's going to be a fantasy line for me anyway, pulling some early cars. I may even do a fantasy trim on the engine, because, well--because I can.

It is what it is--I'm just glad I get the opportunity to buy a LIRR engine with some familiar station stops. That will be fun to hear.

Thanks Charlie. Did you like the quick video above that I threw together?

Maybe you can get MTH to do new coaches in shorter RK versions. The combination of schemes would make them a huge seller as I always say. Plus they could put any ole name on them as they often do.

LOWER STRIPE

Pre fair 63

WF after fair

WF during fair

WINDOW STRIPE

Doing them in Premier would sell less due to higher cost and so many small layouts.

I agree with SIRT, Charlie: RK fit s many of us! If you did a run of those STEELE THRUWAY to the FAIR cars in RK, plus a WF livery passenger engine to pull it, I know I'd be buying 4 cars plus the engine! :-)

Looking forward to receiving 160. I'm grateful that you're keeping the spirit of LIRR alive!

(Hofstra, Class of 76. Miss the LIRR!)
