IMG_0443IMG_0479IMG_0213IMG_0201I’m a little late to the party on this one as it’s already pretty much finished. It’s not the prettiest by any stretch. I still need to take all the shelves down and cut off excess overhang and add some corner pieces where the track over hangs. I got it up and wanted to start running my train so I think the rest of it can be a winter project. I also want to add some scenery or a background on the wall too. Wife wants to paint this room anyways so I’ll back burner that idea for now.
i made this layout for my big boy so i had to use wide curves to accommodate the big steam engine. It’s a small room too so it was tricky but I got it done. I even had to go back and re do it because it was still hitting the walls on turns. It’s been a journey to say the least.

Video is to long to post but this is a YouTube of it going around the room

Thanks John. It was definitely tricky especially with that closet. Very wide turns make it difficult also. I wish I could have this on a big layout in the basement but it’s not finished and I don’t want moisture ruining my trains. It is what it is unfortunately and I made the space I do have work. I have to many other (ground) R/C’s in that room too I had to go up high.
this winter I want to do a background and try and add some trees or something on the shelf. Going to have to try and fire up the old imagination box haha

You used just the same methods and materials for your ceiling level layout as I used  for mine 8 or 10 years ago.  I had the same issue with a jog in the one wall, but I got it to work as you did.  My ceiling is 7’ 4” high in a basement room.  Your trains look great running on yours.  I don’t have large engines running on mine.  I don’t think I could lift a Big Boy or anything close to as heavy up onto mine anymore.  Great job by you!
