Indiana and Ohio were once widely served by interurbans, even with connections through to the other state.  (others states' lines and interstate connections probably were common)  How fast did some of those interurbans run, since they were competing with railroads (and automobiles) at their peak period?  You could ride all over both states, but I have heard it would take a while.
