I plan to attend this Saturday and will be taking 2 friends with me.  Amtrak spokesperson and actress Rosario Dawson will preside at the opening ceremonies. She just had a birthday this week and I plan to present her with a birthday card and in maybe in exchange I am hoping to have a picture taken with her. There will be 4 tracks with various Amtrak, Metro-North, and

private owner passenger cars on display to walk though. Amtrak personal will be there to demonstrate what they do when

working on their trains; conductors, chiefs in the dining cars, sleeping car attendants, etc. Other events will be taking place as well.

Afterwards I plan to head to the west side to walk the High Line. It how runs from 30th St. South to around 12th St.

Hope some of you can make it to this maybe one time event at GCT.

Yes Mario I did get to Grand Central Terminal this past Saturday. We had a great time.

I took 6 friends and we walked though all of the railroad cars that were open to the

public about 20 of them. In Vanderbilt Hall there were organizations with tables set up giving away goodies, and then there was Rosario Dawson the spokesperson for Amtrak. My goal was to have my picture taken with her. Last week was her birthday so

I brought her a birthday card and when she was finished talking to someone I walked

up to her, presented her with the card, wished her a happy birthday, told her that my

my and I admire her acting work (she appears in about 35 movies between 1995 and

2011.) She then kisses me on my left cheek. I then said to her "it's your birthday, I should be giving you a kiss and I did. Then I asked her if I could have a picture taken with her and she said yes and I handed my camera to a lady standing in front of us and now I have a picture of Rosario and myself. I have already given away 4 copies of that

picture to my doctor and dentist and 2 friends. She is the picture of health and has a beautiful smile and a killer set of teeth.

I hope this event can be repeated in Grand Central Terminal again and if Rosario is there again I will invite her to dinner where ever she wants to go. In the meantime I own several dvds of movies that she stars or co-stars in including Kids (1995), 7 Pounds (2008) and I plan to get Unstoppable (2010).

Jon:

Yes Rosario was in the movie Unstoppable. When she was on stage addressing the audience she talked about growing up Bronx and taking the subway to school. She is strong supporter of public transportation especially trains. The last movie she was in that has been released so far is Zookeeper from last year.

Next month my wife and I are taking Amtrak to Roseville, CA. We will be traveling starting from New Rochelle, NY to Washington, DC. Then from Washington,DC to Chicago. The next day from Chicago to Roseville,  CA. arriving there on the 4th day out.

On the way back 2 weeks later we will leave From Los Angeles, going to Chicago, and then from Chicago to Croton-Harmon, NY. Six years ago I started using the Amtrak Master Card.

The points I get from using this card during to last 2 years pays for more then half of the train travel in a deluxe sleeping room.

When we get back I will try to contact Rosario and let her know who the train travel was. I did tell her about our train trip to California and she said "let me know how it went".
