I went to the National Watch & Clock Museum in Columbia, Pa. on Saturday.

What an interesting place. Definitely a place to visit. Here are some photos of watches and clocks that pertained to the railroad industry.
Here are some of the 100's of pocket watches on display.
I found this piece of equipment very interesting. It was used to engrave pocket watch cases. A master disk was placed on the machine. You then traced the design on the master disk with a stylus. This in turn moved the engraver arm to etch the design on up to ten watches at once. The big gray disks are the master disks.
Here is a model of the Hamilton Watch Co. in Lancaster, Pa.
The smaller clocks on the right side of this photo were typical of clocks that were found in railroad stations. They were called slave clocks. They would be physically connected to a master clock usually at the Western Union station via the telegraph lines. The long clocks in the photo are master clocks. The master clock would adjust the time on the slave clocks to make sure everything was accurate.
Here are some random shots of other clocks in the museum.
