My TMCC Command base shorted out, a track power wire accidentally touched one of the DAT wires. I have three Cab Controllers will they work with the new command base-1L or full legacy? Or should I just try to find an original TMCC1 command base. I have been perfectly happy running just TMCC so the features of legacy would be nice but not a must have I rather have use of the three controller for family and friends.

This may be your opportunity to upgrade to the Legacy 1L. There is a market for the older TMCC controllers as many are still using them and they are no longer in production. The 1L operates in a manner very similar to the old TMCC so there is no steep learning curve and you don't have to scroll through screens and such. I prefer them to the full Legacy and like full Legacy, l get better control of the older TMCC engines. Just a thought!
pmonti - To answer your question, only a CAB 1-L will talk to a Command Base-L.
A new command base should be readily available through ebay or even old stock from dealers.
I see a few on eBay, cheapest one was $70 shipped.
You should be able to replace your Command Base easily. They are still available on eBay or even here.

The good counsel offered by other FORUM members applies to my situation too. I have a TMCC Command Base that responds reliably to my CAB-1 Controller. However, if/when it dies, I intend to replace it with a Legacy Command Base 1L and an accompanying CAB-1L controller. Some of my locos are Legacy-equipped, but the CAB-2 controller is more complicated than I require.

I like the functionality of the full Legacy CAB2, but I frequently run with the CAB1L as it's so darned "handy". I recently stumbled into a really good deal and picked up the CAB1L/BASE1L for $100, hard to complain about that!
Thanks for all your info and offers but I really like having three controllers beside my grandson still uses the big red button. I'll start my search for an original command base.
Thanks for all your help
I saw a few on eBay, so they're still around.
