Need Fix for 175 Rocket Launcher Smoke Fan

Thanks, cjack, but they seem to be out of stock on most of the smoke units and the motors.

Sure looks like the motor on my MTH PS2 diesel.  Seems the MTH repair guys here have them readily available.  OTOH I'd first wonder why 2 motors have already failed - maybe too much voltage coming from the control electronics?

Lionel has had issues with smoke motors. if they have figured out why, they have not been on the forum telling us. There was a dialog here a month or two ago about it but I saw no resolution.

seems too that someone recommended squeezing the motor with your fingers to get it to run...as if it's just poor alignment. And GRJ suggested that the MTH motors which are the same are more reliable.

If MTH had the superior on line ordering site that Lionel has, I might try their motors. But the MTH site has been broken for a year in that regard. 

Well, apparently jjm can't even get find the motor itself?  Maybe post a request on the MTH sub-forum for an MTH motor if they are indeed the same; I'll bet GGG or GRJ has them.  I find it hard to believe it's an alignment issue since the rocket smoke unit looks like it uses the standard 2 screw mount from what I can tell.

I figure if he buys the a couple motors, he can at least repair the first assembly and probably sell it since the whole assemblies are nowhere to be found and recoup his costs!

Take the motor off and see if it has horizontal mounting. If so,
