Do to recent purchase I'm in need of traction tires for Williams FA Diesels and a K Line MP 15 switcher. The Williams set is Gray box Prior to Bachman. All are Lehigh Valley! They needed to come home to Sayre!! or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Too bad that Weaver is out of business. They offered the best replacement traction tires of anyone. Their tire had kind of a tread pattern on the flat of the tire, which allowed the tire to move a bit under a heavy load and then spring back to the original shape. I still have a few left on my workbench but they are starting to run out. Wonder if we could find out where Joe got them when he was building his engines and did supply replacements for older engines?

The Lionel 222-108 tire will fit both of those diesels.
See 3rd Rail's web site and read the description for Bull Frog Snot..............really! Spray on traction tires
The best tire in the world is the MTH tire. Put those on your locomotives and you will be very happy. By all means stay clear of that bull frog crap. Always replace a tire with a tire.

Well, in fact it is NOT "spray on", but the stuff does work great, in my opinion.
When I buy a new locomotive, I dump the spares in a bag in my tool box. I agree with Marty. This is little more than a rubber band. Of course you change it when it wears out. Why over-complicate anything so simple?
Out of curiosity (and the fact that I'm unable to find tires for 1 of my locos) I decided to try BFS. It's been on the wheels for a little over 2 weeks now, and for what I paid, I'm not impressed. It gives better traction than no tires at all, but flat spots have developed, decreasing the loco's performance. I agree that it's best to replace worn / missing tires with new ones, but I suppose if the correct size tire is unavailable, BFS is better than nothing at all. As soon as I can find the right tires, goodbye Bull Frog Snot.
Another option is the Calumet Polyvinyl Super Traction Tire formerly marketed by Stewart's.
Thanks for the replies/help! I do believe I will be all set!!
