HI guys! I am a 3 railer but come from a HO scale background so I like to modify, paint and detail my trains. So I thought I may have more luck asking this over here!!! I am wanting to rework a older loco. The handrails are awful, small and just poorly done. I'd like to rework the loco but handrail stanchions are hard to find in O scale. Prototypically correct stanchions  are not a must....it is a GE U-Boat loco FYI. Any decent handrail stanchions  out there??? Looked at Cal Scale but they are a shadow of what they were....did internet search....but no luck. Any help???? THX

Dave- there's round stock for jewelry wristband making and premade eyelet ends on some of these, and while the opening is big you could reduce it.

Another idea is brass flat strip- make a jig to hold an end with 2 metal pins and bend around that...or just crimp over the railing with pliers. I'll need to do this when I button up my RMT trainmaster which currently has no railings at all.

Dave, my daughter was into making necklaces and the like so I happen to have things like this sitting around for projects or repairs.

This eyelet is .027 wire and 1" overall tip to top of eyelet. Being thin it's easy to bend one, but that also means it's easy to rebend too.

We get these from our local Hobby Lobby craft store, though I'm sure any craft store would have them too...guess it depends on what you have close by...the web is the other way to go there as an option.

Thanks.....they do have a few different sets.....none for GE but that's not really an issue with me. I'll have to decide if I want to spend about $40 just for the stanchions on a $30 loco!!!!!

But I bookmarked it as it looks to be a good resource to keep in miind....THX to all.
