Bought a Lionel set at a local flea/antique extravaganza yesterday.  I can't find it listed anywhere.  While engine 245 is listed as uncatalogued, I can't find it in the Greenberg Uncatalogued Set book.  The set is in full Excellent condition, nothing broken, marked up, etc.  All couplers work.  The 6014 is a nice Airex, 6465 is a black Lionel Lines, the 6162 is blue with three Marked white canisters, the 245X is in perfect shape, very clean, the only Scout with lead weights and Magnetraction.  It even runs, a bit loudly though.  Came with a 1015 45W transformer and a 1023 45 degree crossing in the OB.

The 6844 Missile Carrying flatcar appears to be an seperate sale add on.  The box has old sticker prices on it, $3.95 and $2.97.  It is the common black flatcar but the plastic trucks are Arch Bar, not Timken.  There's no evidence they have been swapped out, all of the tuff steel rivets appear original.

Any help would be appreciated in identifying this set and the Arch Bar trucked 6844.

I have owned a number of 6844 missile cars. I haven't seen one with arch bar trucks. You may have a real odd ball piece there.

The variations that come to mind are:

Black car

Red car

Side gussets extend below the sides of the flat car (black car)

grey missile rack (red or black car)

olive missile rack (black car)

There may also be variations on the holes though the flatcar deck and in the mold number. I didn't keep track.
