I need help from someone who has more knowledge of O gauge locomotives than I do... We bought a Polar Express set this Christmas and it looks great. In fact, I like it so much I decided to get a few more locomotives and build an O gauge layout even though my primary interest is S Scale. The first one I bought is a Lionel 6-11384 Shifter. It's a beautiful little locomotive... until I set it next to the Berkshire from the Polar Express set. Then it's still gorgeous, just not so "little" looking any more.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what 0-4-0's are scaled more in line with the Berk? (It just looks a little too weird for the switcher to be taller than the road engine). Would the Lionel #8635 0-4-0 be a better match? If not, what would you recommend?

Thanks,

Ken

The little Berk will always look little compared to most locos - I can see it with S-gauge

running gear under the shell!

The Right-of-Way 0-4-0 tank loco is brass, exquisite, a good replica and very much

a true 1:48 Scale loco.

The Lionel 0-4-0 w/slope-back tender can-motor descendant of the PW 0-4-0 is a great loco; it is definitely "scale-ish" and a great runner - even the MPC versions. One of mine has a date with an ERR command upgrade.

The 0-4-0's are fine; the Little Berkshire is the "problem". Most 0-4-0's are fairly

correctly sized because there is little reason to compress a model of an actually

small prototype.
