I disconnected my tender from my proto 2 premier sp daylight steamer to clean tender wheels and when I connected it back up again it will not run. I will blow whistle, ring bell turn reverse light on and off make all sounds in the menu uncouple rear coupler but will not turn headlight on move forward and reverse turn marker light on and off, turn mars light on and off turn cap light on and off turn firebox glow on and off. I have gone into the menu advanced and removed engine from tiu and did a reset and engine search and it all worked fine but the engine functions do not work. I was careful when I inserted the dumb drawbar and made sure it was on top of the female pin receiver and it went in what seemed fine. Any suggestions as to what to do? Thanks in advance. PS I turn off the tiu and try conventional mode and it is dead to that and will not work.

Make sure you did not bend a pin on the draw bar connection. Make sure it is fully seated. Make sure the internal connector on the engine and/or tender side did not come unconnected from the drawbar.
Basically the engine is not fully connected to the tender, which is why it is not functioning correctly. G
I can check the tender pins easy =, but how do it check to see if the drawbar is connected to the engine correctly, unscrew it from engine and check wires? thanks for you 1st answer,
You should be able to see if it is unconnected from under the engine and tender. G
ok all tender male pins are all nice and straight and the engine pug is firmly mtg, Does that mean I may have bent the drawbar it got twisted once but only a max of maybe 45 degrees. thank for continued help
what about connector on tender. you may need to remove tender shell. G
ok, is there a plug in for that to come apart as I had shell off to put in a better speaker.
The terminal can come out of the header, or possibly the plug in the board came out, or a wire broke. G
Just checked the tender under a magnifier and found all wires all over the tender connected as they should . no wire is just hanging loose and all wires terminate in a plug connected to a board including the main group of wires connected to the tender to engine plug. Any other suggestions? and again thankyou for helping me. I supposed I will have to send it in for repair as I have only had it for a month and it should be under warranty, I have the original paper work. I was a Christmas present and was on display on the fireplace until this weekend. It worked fine until I pulled the shell to see what kind of speaker it had and didn;t seem to allow for any better sound and it did not. I am used to my legacy engines and they have way superior sound, Now to just see why it quit with just removing the tender shell.
I'd almost bet money that the problem is that the drawbar is not sufficiently plugged into the socket on the tender.

Is it possible that by twisting the bar some solder joint got cracked a bit or the traces inside the bar broke? Just guessing!
The plug to the tender snaps down good and it will not go any further down. Im think that the problem is in the drawbar itself. I hate mth system as it seems way too weak to stand the rigors of use. the lionel system works flawlessly. I haveother dcs systems with the wired plug and never any trouble whith then, I will call mth in the am.

I told him to check all that in my second post. We have hit all the easy stuff. Now it is the more tedious (broken wire, broken solder joint, pushed pin or connector). G
