Always make sure that your siding is longer then your train that you want to pass. I like to keep sidings powered with toggle switches for on and off, also want to insulate the siding with fiber pins for the center rail from the main line. If two rail track insulate one both rails.

If you are using MTH engines it may be best to use Ross Custom switches with them as two of my MTH engines derail on Gargraves switches.

Assuming that your center rail is "hot" and the outside rails are "ground," IMHO the simplest solution, to be able to park a train on the siding, is use an insulated pin on the center rail of your siding at each end where it connects to each switch. Then run a separate power feed to the siding. The power feed should be from one of the other outputs of your Z4000.

If you want full "block control" where the train automatically pulls onto the siding and waits for the other train to pass, then proceeds down the line, that is a little more complicated.
