It ran great without the shell on,but I noticed a purple wire that was loose that sure looks like it belongs someplace!!I put some electrical tape on the wire, and placed the shell back on.

It ran super, but I had no headlights.I have ALL of the other lights going, but no headlight.Looking at the board,it seems to have been worked on in the past,as it is held together with electrical tape also.

I also have a better speaker I want to put in this,is there any precautions I need to take before I swap out the speaker??

I have heard that I need to unplug the amp,can someone identify where that amp is?  The stray purple wire appears to be running down to the coupler, but it has a metal plug in the end that definitely needs to be plugged in somewhere.

I am a great Postwar repair guy,but I am a total novice to this MTH stuff!!

This train has the best sounding GG-1 Horn I have ever heard!! Nothing can possibly top it!! It is a dead ringer for the real GG-1 Horn!!!!

Any help or advice greatly appreciated as always. God Bless.-Kenny Baughman

The purple wire is part of the lighting circuit.  It should attach to a solder point on one end of the electrical contact pad on the chassis.  Likely this should solve the headlight issue as the purple wire is the common conductor.

Bruce

P.S.  I gutted the PS1 out of my 4876 to accommodate the first CC upgrade I performed.  Then the old electronics went into a scale K-Line EP5.  Boy, was that a heavy learning experience for this former PW tinkerer.

-Kenny-So, the loose wire goes to the pad that has the contacts on it for the rest of the lights?

The pad that the springs on the shell that are attached to the rest of the lights? I think I understand you,but just want to be super sure before doing any type of soldering.

Thanks for your advice, please comment back to reaffirm that I understand you correctly. Please pardon my being cautious, but as I said, the biggest thing I have done so far on MTH stuff is replace batteries!!!!!-Kenny

Bruce, I replied back the wrong way.please pardon me.

The pad that has the springs attached to the shell that connects all of the other lights?

I have all of the other lights, including the cab lights,markers,etc....just no headlights. Thanks for your advice, please comment back so I can be super sure I understand you, before I do any type of soldering.-Kenny
