Hi, I have Z1000 switch machines. I need to install Lionel dwarf signals to indicate switch direction. I am using MTH DCS with an AIU to operate the switches. Do I need a ac relay? How do I wire this? Any help to do this project would be great. Thanks, Art

Use a dpdt relay, switch the coil with the AIU. Use one contact set to switch the turnout, use the other to work the dwarf signal. Not familiar with the AIU,I assume it has memory when power is removed.. If not use a twin coil latch relay with 2 sets of contacts. A 24VAC relay will work on 18 volts. If you use a 12 VAC volt supply you could use a DC relay with a bridge.

The DZ 1000 switch machine is designed to piggy back with the DZ 1008 relay module.
The relay module should provide one set of normally open, common, normally closed contacts for switching your dwarf lights.

Both the DZ 1000 switch machine and the DZ 1002 push button also have direction indicator lights.

Thanks Dale H and Mike CT. Any DCS-AIU users have any experience with this project?
I don't know if AIU has a memory or not. This is my first experience with relays. Any diagram of wiring would help a lot. Thanks, Art
