Hello, I need some help I'm new in the o gauge world. My fhither in law got my kids the Lionel Santa fe but my transformer doesn't run it. The transformer is just the cheap one they give you with every set.what do I need to get,we just built a 9x16 layout so there willbe a lot of things running.

Without knowing more details I would suggest either the Lionel CW 80 or a MTH Z1000. Both are good and should give you enough power. Or if by chance your Santa Fe is a post war version consider getting an upgraded (new wire, rollers & circuit breaker) Lionel KW.
I'd actually skip over the CW-80 or Z1000 and get at least a Lionel KW or ZW to start.
