Just won a 3rd rail S2 turbine and wondering how good it is, has smoke think sound? Havent got it yet..

Check out the 2-Rail Trains Forum. There has been a very informative discussion going on over there about who made the scale version(Sunset/3rd Rail), and how the 3rd Rail model performs.

You mean, you bid on a model not knowing for sure whether it is a Sunset/3rd Rail manufactured model or not? Hope you are not confusing a "3-Rail model" with a "3rd Rail model"

I would suggest that you contact TRAINZ. The price that you paid would be fair enough if the engine were complete, but based on the picture in the auction, the engine is missing the pilot (cowcatcher). I would inquire whether that part is included and if it is not I would question the sellers discription. I think that you would be hard pressed to find the missing part.

its got to be complete.. or other wise they wouldve stated it was missing parts in there add.i'll call in the morning to make sure.

ok fed x delivered it today..Boy its BIG!!! all parts are there the front pilot and side pieces..this dont have sound but has a QSI bord in the tender lights hooked to it..can an upgrade be easy to install in to for sound?would love to see the lional s2 to compair them side by side..
The PRR S2 was 3rd Rails entry into the 3 rail market. They took the project over from another importer. so it has some historical significance to the three rail hobby as 3rd Rail's initial O gauge steam locomotive.

What is the process a 3rail model from qs I or mth control to tmcc?!
The 3rd Rail, 3 rail engines, now imported come equipped with TMCC as the standard operating system. This has been the case for the last 5 or 6 years.
Conversion of the older engines is the same process as any other engine.
question..isnt the front pilot and steps brunswick green? looks like its painted wrong.its in black.
what ransformer can I run this on?? Want to upgrade the smoke unit and add Proto 2 or 3 sound on this train..
