I just added two Atlas 036 Switches that are on some engines creating the condition where the leading wheel is colliding with the forward point of the frog. I have read that this is caused by inadequate guard rail height and that the fix is adjust the height by adding a styrene strip. I can't find a link or photo though that shows how the fix is done. Any photos or links with photos would be appreciated.

Thanks! S

Thanks HW. I apparently did not look hard enough. Here is Bobby O Gauge solution from a previous post except this is for Realtrax. It's interesting that this is a thickness adjustment as opposed to height. When I first isolated the problem I added two layers of muffler tape to increase thickness and that solved the problem. But it added height to the rail as well. How does the added height solve the problem?

I don't have any idea but, by adding the height to all the guard rails on our layout, I can now operate a lot of 2-Rail SCALE wheel cars through the turnouts without problems. I have found that both Weaver and MTH 2-Rail SCALE wheel freight trucks work best, as the wheel treads are  wider than other 2-Rail SCALE wheel freight trucks.

Thanks. Will try the tape again with just a height adjustment and no side adjustment this time and compare with side adjustment only. Maybe the cable tie solution referred to in the picture.
