To all the wonderful people on this Forum I am asking for help.  I am looking for documentation that shows that Lionel (or its dealers) sold a set of 2333 F3 engines in the year 1948.  The Santa Fe and New York Central F3 engines were shown for the first time in the 1948 catalog using the same number 2333 and the general rule of thought is that no engines 2333 were sold in 1948 due to manufacturing issues. So if you have any information that could help date a set of early 2333 engines with a store receipt, a picture with date, anything from the year 1948, I would be most appreciative.  If this information is available somewhere we need it for the historical side of Lionel’s history.

If you have any documentation please photograph it and send it to my email at: 66corvette@comcast.net

I don’t need your original, just a copy.

I thank everyone in advance for their help.

Mike

It was available throughout this year and was replaced by the No. 2343 in 1950. This version did not have Magnetraction. Lionel had a problem with the SILVER paint adhering to the BLACK plastic body and they would experiment with a number of different manufacturing techniques with this diesel that resulted in five different variations. ..."
