The center layout on my 6-32998 Lionel Operating Hobby shop quit rotating.  Upon investigation

I discovered the nylon drive gear had split and sheared some teeth.  Lionel doesn't currently list

the gear and the next higher assembly, Gearbox, 620-4295-145, is unavailable.  When looking at

the enlarged picture of the Gearbox the gear is the larger, black one (white on mine).

The gear is 1/2" in diameter, has 24 teeth and the center drive hole is 'D' shaped and large.  I

would be able to make any 1/2" 24 tooth gear work by forming the drive hole myself.

Does anyone have a spare gear, or know where I might be able to obtain one?

Thanks

He didn't have the part nor any broken units to take the part from.

I know this would be the extreme but based on what you have in the picture ,if your handy with your hands you could make it out of Lexan. if you clamped the gear to a piece of lexan the diameter of what you have. You could use a triangle file to cut the gear teeth in the right place.Plexiglass is to brittle but the lexan won't chip.
You can get the lexan at Lowes and it cuts best with tin snips.
Just an idea if worst comes to worst.
