Could someone refer me to a reliable dealer for Gargraves sectional track? I need a few sections of 096 curved tracks - Phantom center rail and tinplate outside rails.

I have been waiting over 3 weeks for a dealer to ship my order. It turns out the dealer did not keep the track in stock; they had to order from Gargraves. I told them to cancel the order and I would look elsewhere for the track.  I need the name of a dealer who keeps Gargraves sectional track in stock.

Thanks for your help,

Richard

Best to order from a Gargraves dealer like JusTrains of Delaware (or whichever shop may be your "go-to" train dealer), and hopefully they'll pass along a nice discount to you -- especially if you're placing a big order.  As far as I know, Gargraves will only sell at MSRP to consumers, so as not to be viewed as competing with their dealer network.

Thanks to all once again for your help. I will get on the phone Monday and contact some of the dealers you have mentioned.

The reason I need the 0 96 curved trace is for the temporary replacement of a Ross O 96 switch. I have broken the black plastic shaft that moved the points. I will have to remove it from the layout and send it to Ross for repair.  The missing switch would shut down the outside loop of my layout. I thought I would order a few extra section.

Richad.

Hello Richard, i have the same problem with 2 of my Ross switch's. I have a Caboose Industries Hand Throw on the one switch and a Z Stuff for Trains Switch Machine on the other.

Both bars are broke in the same area.

Of course this had to happen over the Christmas Holiday, which like you shutdown one of my inner loops into my passenger station.

I made it work but it was not pretty!!!

I have some industrial epoxy glue made by Loctite Corporation and tried to repair the plastic bar but no luck.

I was thinking maybe something was down in the switch points or under the switch and was binding up the points and the bar being the weakest link snapped.

With switch's removed I found nothing that would cause this type of failure and the points move freely.

Oh well, back to Ross for repair.

I know very little about Ross track, so just a thought here.  What about a Ross 096 curve?  Would think that would fit exactly where the switch was?

Mark,

I have sent Ross switches back in the past for this problem and they repaired them for me. It is just the thought of having to shut down my layout for the time it will take to have the repair made. Had I pulled out the switch 3 weeks ago I would have had it back by now and reinstalled.

I have over 50 ross switches on the layout. I hold my breth every time I push the Z 1000 controller, hoping that a switch in the hardes point to reach on the layout will not fail.

Thanks,

Richard

Hello Richard, I don't have no where near that many switch's on my layout but I know what you mean.

I have two switches that at times give me fits. They will not switch fully over to the turnout position or back to the straight thru position.

You go back down on another evening destine to solve the problem with the switch and out of the blue it works fine. Run a train or two thru and everything is right with the world.

Then you have some people over that want to see the layout and your running trains blowing the whistle and ringing the bell, you head for this section of the railroad that the switch that had been giving you trouble but mysteriously fixed itself, and next thing you know you are derailed in the middle of the layout, and everything comes to a screeching stop!!!!!

Oh well thats the challenge of it I guess.

Good luck with your repairs!!!

Yep,

One of Murphy's laws of model railroading - in any given situation when your layout is being observed by others, your trains will not work:

-Milk cars will jam or milk cans will fly acrross the layout

-Trains will derail

-Couplers will open by themself

-Switches will fail to line

-DCS will not work

-lights will not work

- and on a really bad day TMCC will fail

Richard
