Generic repair guide for modern ELECTRONIC toy trains:

There are some service documents on Lionel and MTH websites.  The material gets thinner as you get closer to current time.  Some of the material consists of simple photographs of the exploded parts on a table with little numbers by them to indicate parts.  Not all of the parts are available even after you figure out the part numbers you may need.

Lionel's website has free downloadable supplements for most products built into the 90's. After that, you need to punch in a specific product number, and not everything is available. Some products just have the aforementioned pictures and parts price/availability information, but no service info. None of the info in the supplements is truly service info, just parts listings, and many entries have no exploded views at all.

You can enter product numbers on MTH's website for their exploded view and parts list, but not all products are supported either. Their are no books that I am aware of that has all this modern era info under one cover, like the old Greenbergs' reprints of the Lionel service manuals.

If you're looking for service info on the electronics, forget it, it does not exist. No diagnostic flow charts, no troubleshooting hints, nothing. Just send it back.

Thanks for the info, i have the book and it is not that good, i know this info is out there but MTH&LIONEL won't release it. I have an MTH duluth missabe & iron range loco that was dropped in shipping and damaged. I got some of the parts from MTH. Still need a IA-0000075 bolt for the lead tender truck but it is not available. I'm getting leery of buying trains that i can't get parts or service manuals on.
