I have a (Black) Lionel Postwar side Dump car that I would like to repair the dump door ( not sure of part/product number possibly is 3469 ) and in need of a schematic.
I tried to find a picture of a schematic by searching with Google with no luck.

Do you have a product number?
John, here is a link to lionel's supplements, you can look threw them and probably find what your looking for.
Thanks for the wiring diagram.
Do you know how the dump door can be fix?
The solenoid for the metal dump tray works and the tray dumps, but the side door stays open all the time.
Here's a link to the postwar dump car adjustment from Olsen's train parts site.

Thanks franktrain, i'll try the adjustment!
Hey John, here is a link to Lionel manual look on page 266 of 501. Bottom of page should say 11-1.
Mike,
Thanks for the link!
Your Welcome, John I just wish I could tell you how to fix it, but I can't. I am sure someone here can help you figure it out!
Call Jeff Kane, the Train Tender: 585.229.2050. He's a parts dealer and extremely knowledgeable about repairing postwar LIONEL.
After going though the dump car it looks like it is missing a rivet.
Everyone thanks for your help.
John, It has been a few years since I did it last.... but, you have to adjust the gear shown in the picture by way of the screw shown holding it. I do not recall the exact procedure right now, but will take a look at one of my 3469 cars and get back to you tomorrow.

Texastrain,
I have tried to adjust the gear per the instructions but since the (upper) rivet is missing the gear disengages with the door gear after tilting a few times.
Do you mean one of the rivets that holds the bracket to the dump tray or door?
The top rivet that holds the bracket to the dump tray is missing. See the picture on my previous reply.
Anyone know what size the rivet would be?
Hi John, I think your going to have to find something that fits in the hole and then size that, but the good thing is if you find something that fits you can leave it there long enough to see if it fixes your problem!
I took a look at one of my 3469 cars and checking it out, it seems perhaps a #4x32 screw or machine screw and nut may work to correct it. For all, find attached a copy the procedures to fix a loose dump tray door.
Here is the parts view of the car with part numbers.
TrainLarry,
Thank for the PDF it helps verify the part I was going to order (3469-18).
TexasTrain,
Thanks for the scan.
I have installed the rivet pin (3469-18) as in TrainLarrys pdf in the dump car, but still having issue with the door not staying close when down. The door stays open after the second dump even after adjusting the pivot screw. It looks like the gears separate.
Is the issue the 3459-17 (pivot arm) the gear is a little worn? Has anyone else have this issue?
I have just fixed this car. The problem was the gears on the pinion Arm (3459-17) attached to the door were worn and would not engage with the adjustment gear on the car. I ordered an new part on EBAY for $5 and filed off the top of the rivets attached to the old arm. Do not try to drill these out, you will end up enlarging the holes and the new part will not fit correctly. Simply filling off the rivet head and tapping out the rivet will work much better. After installing the new part, peen over the rivet by tapping them backed up by a solid piece of metal. Now the car works perfectly.
