Need some help with deciding and painting a locomotive

First decide it you will be operating this loco or do you want to showcase it. If I were you I would pick my most favorite engine and start with that. I'm not the best at colors so I will leave it to others to decide. I'm sure it would help them if you could show a picture of how your school colors are displayed. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. My schools colors are royal blue and gold/yellow. Our mascot is the wildcats. The engine would only be on display. I'd like it to be primarily blue with gold/yellow accents.

Perhaps a royal blue color with your schools mascot name ( Lions, Skunks, Woodsmen etc.) in gold would look pretty nice.

With those colors, I'd seriously look at the newer N&W GP9 or if your pockets are deep enough, the new N&W Legacy TrainMaster. They are already blue background with yellow accents, maybe need to just re-do the yellow accents to your liking.

The Lionel Alaska SD70MAC is a blue and yellow paint scheme that would nicely display your school colors. All you'd need to do is replace the "ALASKA" and road numbers. CSX also has blue and yellow colors, but IMO, the Alaska paint schemes do a better job of balancing the blue and yellow.
