I have been all caught up with my MTH workload and was a little bored last weekend so I pulled down some of my prewar display pieces.  I have a 2660 that came with a set but needed some parts to complete.  The set was with a 224E and has black journal trucks.  The couplers have the fake coupler shape on the top of the box, but are the version with the long tab? that the plunger activates on.

What year would this set have been based on those trucks?

What I need a source for and maybe some on here can help is:

The boom screw, handwheel and screw that hold hand wheel on.  Are they all the same or year versions too?  What size screw?  TrainZ has the reproduction screw shaft, and handwheel, but did not show a screw.

The trucks are complete except, both are missing the Box and tabs.  One is missing the eyelet that retains the plunger.  Are these pieces available.  Would like to get the crane back behind the engine.  Thanks for any help on this little project.  G

Based on your description, you have set 845W cataloged from 1940-1942 .  This is the only cataloged set that came with both the 224 and the 2660.  Need more information to get a better idea of the year, e.g. is the tender plastic?

Re the parts.  That crane is very common, parts also used in prewar 165, postwar 2560 crane car and postwar 182.  Contact Jeff Kane at the Train Tender.  He should have all the parts.
