Ahh yes the old Lionel logging empire set.  That was the first train set I recieved when I was 8.

Pretty cool!  First time I have ever seen that control before.

Actually, to my surprise it runs fine.

At first glance, I thought it was Marx, but I saw the controller and read what you said. That's in really nice shape and looks complete. I won't go so far as to say it's rare, but those starter sets are usually beat up. Take good care of it.

I once got a gift horse, and no, you never look them in the mouth. Especially not in front of the gifter. When I got home I found this Auto-loader. That was one great horse. Still riding it 26 years later. If you don't recognize it, look it up. It's all about the cars.

Sometimes they don't give you a horse, they give you a whole herd.  Value is a relative thing.  Sometimes people just give you things they think you will enjoy.He just wasn't into trains anymore and passed it on.
