I have recently decided to try and design my own bridges after several attempts at building bridges that do not have a good appearance once I finished them. I have gotten into CAD programming to design my own. I have attached the first design which allows for two trains to run across the top and in the middle of the bridge at the bottom it supports running Super Street tracks through the bridge under the trains.

I have ordered a laser cutter that I will be cutting out the pieces of this bridge. I plan to make this bridge out of 1/8 inch Masonite (Hard Board).

The bridge is designed so that I can connect another section and join it to the first one.

I am working numerous other designs that I will post when finished.

I build lots of bridges with my GlowForge; I dont use Masonite I use draft board.

I design in CorelDraw create an .svg file that the Glowforge program converts to laser cut positions. (sometimes if the model is complex I take my 2D prints and build them into a3D CAD program like Rhino 7 to see how the 2D sections make the 3D model in 3D space. Sometimes I laser cut the model first in cardboard before committing to draft board.

I would  break up your model into 2D sections with tabs and slots to aid in connecting  those parts at true right angles.

the parts are above showing the main bascule side Trusses, the transverse trusses and the top track trusses and the x-bracing, There are FIVE(5) top track trusses for the 5 track lines.

The overall TOP dimensions are 16.5" x 24.5"



ALSO Masonite really doesn't hold a structural edge well with glue, the fibers tend to peel off of the board.

That said, e6000 or Aquaseal can hold anything together, and flex a bit. I totally endorse those adhesives, but to make a strong Masonite box, you may want to glue/epoxy a strip of wood on the inside corners.
