I'm redesigning an upper level city going from Plasticville to using Woodland Scenic and Menards buildings.

In doing so the roads and intersections needed to be redone. Here is the general overhead view of City design without the buildings being shown.

city overall

I was going to laser cut ALL of the roads and the city, however this needed 78 20"x11"sheets.  So instead, I opted to do the intersections first.  Then I will laser cut straight or curved sections to fit between the intersections. Sort of how we build track lines.

I want the city to be fairly accurate. I want it to have integrated traffic signals as well as street lights, mail boxes hydrants, tree grates for trees of course, curb sewers, street sewer covers, sidewalks, crosswalks, and all the typical street markings.

So the diagram below shows a simple T-intersection. For the City I will need L-intersections and full cross +-intersections as well.

It's a two-lane streets with curb parking on one side where there is to be parking. The roadway with be 1/8" thick where as the areas around the streets will be 1/4 " thick rounded at the curb. I opted against a parkway area between the sidewalk and the  curb so the sidewalks will come up to the curbing.

the underside will have an engraved track for for a magnetic bar to allow for the motorized cars like the AutoMotionFX  cars.

t-INTERSECTION

The laser cut road will be painted concrete or asphalt color. I will have scored joints for the curbing construction joints. The crosswalks and other road markings will be lasercut open. Then pieces of the same size of those markings in white and yellow acrylic will fit in to those openings.
