I've installed four ERR Cruise Commanders in locomotives recently. The first three performed fine. The latest one is an MTH USRA 2-8-2 that formerly had PS-2, but the board fried.
Just a couple of thoughts. In initial setup. They have you program whether you have a large or small motor. I’m assuming that needs to be done. But they don’t mention the consequences if you don’t. The only other thing. The default setup is 100 speed steps. Just curious if there’s a change if you program it for 32 or even just shut it off. I would think it would get even worse as far as performance if it’s taking off with 100 steps.
I tried both large and small motor settings--no difference. I programmed it for 100 steps although that is supposedly the default. Per the instructions, it should run faster with 32 steps, but I didn't try it.
