I'm looking over the new catalog and noticed on the bottom of page 87 it says that their engines will have variable smoke output to match the speed of the engine, which I already have learned how to do. It also mentions a "new speaker system to more accurately reproduce the ground shaking rumble of the prototype".

Yes!!!

 Bring it!!!

I agree Joe!

MTH is way overdue for a decent speaker to replace the garbage one they use now.

For most PS-2 upgrades where space permits I have switched to a Peerless full range speaker, which is a vast improvement.

Lionel has been using single and dual Fatboy speakers for years now, and that is one main reason why Lionels sound better IMO.

The speaker is somewhat similar to where the rubber-meets-the-road as far as cars are concerned. If the speaker is junk, it will never sound any good. Just my .02 worth.

I did notice they switched speakers a few years back in the first run of the ES44s. However in following new diesels that I bought, they had the old speakers? I have switched to Peerless in a couple of upgrades I did as well and liked the results. My 3rd rail Allegheny got one in the tender and the sound is full and big.

I noticed last year my new G scale Dash 8 was a lot louder and clearer and wondered if they had changed speakers or enhanced the on board amp??
