Hi Guys and Gals....been a while since I posted any updates to what is new for the layout so here goes.... The pictures I have posted are of the new bridges that were purchased at York from Jim at Bridgeboss. I had an idea of a project to replace the highway bridges that were spanning the intermodal yard and Jim had what I needed at a great price. Jim was clearing out models that he is no longer going to produce and so he made me a deal on two of his 4 foot railroad bridges. As many of you know, early highway bridges were designed much like railroad bridges as far as outward appearances so it was an easy stretch to "pretend" that the old abandoned railroad bridges were converted to single lane highway traffic spanning the yard as well as the canal. Jim had painted them black and while they looked great in that color, I wanted them to be painted a DOT color....and so MoDOT green was my choice. It is a popular highway bridge color in this part of the country. Since the span was more than 4 feet, I combined each of them with one Lionel bridge which completed the span and gave the bridges a nice prototypical appearance. The plans are to paint the Lionel bridges silver sometime in the future. I took pictures from different angles so I hope you all enjoy looking and as always I appreciate your time to look and comment....

I second Charlie, this is incredible. Very nice work!
Nice work. Makes the layout look even better, if that is even possible.

Looks real nice. Bridges add interest to a layout.
I had the pleasure to drive down to Arkansas yesterday to visit Alan and his layout. Although the photos are good, they cannot do the layout justice. I really enjoyed the visit and his new bridges. He has to have the BEST layout in the mid-west. And if you are ever in this area of the woods, Alan's layout is a MUST SEE.
Thanks Alan for your friendship and sharing train ideas with me.
Thanks guys!
Roger...I really enjoyed your too short of a visit! Thanks for lunch!! Hope you enjoy your new shelving system...
