Not been around much lately but have been working on a new industrial section. Using code 100 track and rail to hand lay #5 frogs for this area. So much better to build a switch to fit an area then to fit the area to the switch

Ken,
You think he may be "april foolin" us with that fancy wiring ;>.
Dan, Love the code 100, it makes those sidings look much more realistic. And I agree hand-laying track allows for fantastic flexibility. There is no way I could have done my present layout with factory track.
Malcolm
Fantastic work Dan. I agree handlaying is the way to go for the most freedom in design and final look. I love the wiring....on top of the table...hmmmm who'da thunk it?...
Good to see you busy Dan. Now induge me a moment and explain why the second switch wouldn't be better as a left hand into the tank car siding with the straight tangent leading into the third switch and also giving a straighter flow through this section? Or telling me to mind my own business is another option too....
Bob
Tank car was just for testing the switch. It's sitting on a team track. The third unfinished switch curves right with two sidings for the fuel oil tank farm just out of view. Below is an earlier view. (The track in far right foreground is is just an extra piece in the pix)
I was mostly concerned with the serpintine jog caused by the use of a right hand verses a left hand switch in the second position Dan, although it does create that rustic appeal which doesn't hurt industrial trackage.
Bob
Did you notice in the pix above that it is a left hand? That was the way I laid it out. But the team track suffered because it was then curved a bit. Also with the two main lines in the background I did not want to come to close to them with the stub tracks so this gave me a longer team. Both would have worked... it was one of those executive decisions made while spikes and pliers in hand
I got it Dan, just being attentive to your efforts, and not giving you the free pass go card until you make your case.

It looks cool ?
Yes, and I want a better view of that structure down on the left since I have your attention...

YESSS! A very creative design Dan, and it's your scratchbuild right? I like it a lot. Thank you for your quick replies btw.

I would love to say yes.... but it's an old White Metal Ground Works kit.
Tracks and electrical are finished. Still playing with where everything is going to be placed and what will be placed. I am now building a curved platform for the freight station in the foreground. Then ground cover to tie it all together. The Walthers fuel oil filling shack will also be replace with a scratched built one.
will be a nice little area!
Great progress Dan, that is taking shape nicely.
