New kitten wrecking layout!

I do like cats.  When I was a toddler, there was a farm stray that would follow me

around my grandfather's farm like a dog.  My mother, when I was still home, had a

couple of Siamese, that, much contrary to the Disney movie, were very affectionate

cats.  I would wake up in the night with a hot rock on my stomach, that was a

Siamese curled up asleep.  Those liver-burners put out the calories! When an animal

will do these things, it says they trust you completely and it is very complimentary.

My friend's tuxedo cat gets up on the layout, but when something moves, it disappears

in a hurry.

We don't allow our cat in the basement but if she ever snuck down there, we might have to resort to more drastic measures and call in Starfleet.........

While looking for something else I found this.....Another one of our cats attacking Christmas town. Tree is off to the left.....town in shock!!!

The only good cat is a stir fried cat.

I think there used to be a "Chinese Take-out" in the next town that took care of that. 

I've got nothing against cats.  They make great targets for a sharpshooting Marines #45 crew.  Hilarious for the viewer as well.

You can own a dog. You just feed a cat. 'Nuff said.

I keep telling one of my cats he's going to end up a pair of gloves or slippers.

 

Had another cat, Bushwhack (gone two years this Christmas), who used to get curious about trains, but got scared off when the whistle blew or a steam engine did a blow down.

OK.....at first I thought you were referring to things like a cousin that was a Jarhead that enjoyed killing cats.....if it's just a Lionel gun....no problem here......

 

A touchy subject here right now. I'd rather spend $2000 on trains!

I went to G gauge around the Christmas tree thinking I had out smarted the two of them. I watched them lurking in the corner looking it over, waiting to pounce..and they did. Flipped every car over.

I like cats, but cats really are an alien life form.  I have two, but they both work for a living.   One keeps the barn, and the other keeps the yard.  In the house?.....NO! 

When I was a boy, we had a grey cat we named Marty.  I wanted to play with Marty, but he would hide under the sofa and not want to come out.  So, to encourage him to come out, I would reach in and grab his tail and pull him out.  He didn't like that and would claw my arms until them bled.  My mom would come to Marty's rescue and always took his side. 

 

So, we got a little Manchester dog named Bugsy.  Bugsy and I played great together and mom never had to take sides.

Seriously, I have nothing against cats.  They are cool by me. I don't want one these days, but the one we had was ok I guess.  And yes, I was talking about the Lionel Marines missile launch set like I said earlier in the thread.  

Geez, touchy, feely cat people are so defensive.  It's humor, ok.  I also crack up every time I think about the time we put the gerbil in a boxcar.  That got a little hectic.  Should have put him in the exploding one.  Now THAT would be funny.

Some cultures, old Eskimo?, Pacific Islanders, etc.  eat dogs.  Also heard of snowbound people in the north eating their sled dogs.  Never heard of one that eats cats.  Since around a farm you have cats and dogs, as well as a couple of mules, in my case, I like both critters.

My cat looks at the train go by.I have a vedio of him jumping over a moving freight train.That was being pulled by my ps3 imperial rk santa fe northern.I guss he didn,t like the way blew the whistle.You know a long whistle until the locomotive gets by you.I have had him come and sit by me while i operate the train.Some times he looks like he counting the cars.

Cats are indeed an alien life form. They were the model for the Borg in Star Trek. Here are examples of the feline mindset.

• Their motto is "resistance is futile" as most of us "cat slaves" know.
• In cats' obsessive-compulsive minds everything belongs to cats or is there to serve the cats' needs or wants. "This is our home. You just live here and provide meals, maintain the facility and entertain us."
• Anything that piques our interest is a toy to be played with.
• Any sleeping human may be commandeered as a source of warmth, or in most cases, a landing zone from a high-altitude jump.
• Your train layout is my perch; the tunnels my private hiding space; your scenery my playground; and if you're careless enough to use litter for ballast, my porta-potty.

Also funny how......

I'm a scale guy since coming to O in 1995....so 'traditional' Lionel I know nothing about. a Marine #45 sounds only like some type rifle to me!!!!

 

Or if you read posts via e-mail like I have to at times they come in reverse order.....so you sometimes miss a comment until you open all e-mails.

Bagpipe music and other loud sounds like vacuum cleaners can make great cat repellant.

 

My cat Tummy was not to bad with my HO, except the time she got rammed, and just stared at me, fled form O-27 though.

 

Water and electricity do not mix, so no squirt guns on a train layout, one amp can kill you. Make sure they have plenty of other toys, and places of interest it keeps them distracted, most of the time. They require their window seats, high places, hm kinda like a train layout, but with out the trains. And do not do shunting with them watching if they have a habit if hunting a train, it really sets off their hunting instincts.

 

Your idea of using glue sounds fine to me, it probably bumped it and learned from that it could turn it into a toy.

I have one that seems fascinated by steam whistles.  Anytime I'm watching an Internet video, and she hears a whistle, she comes running in to sit on either my lap or shoulder and watch. (My Trains run in the garage)

First try a little nudge…




And if that doesn’t work ..Alf  has a solution!
