There where suppose to make some changes .. I really like to see what they changed.
Me too i want to see the changes they made
They changd the price!
last year I bought one for $400, now they cost $550??
lionel came out with the redesigned es44ac in late 2013. I am under the impression that these released this week will be the same. 6-38966 is the one I have.
the trucks move independent of the steps. although the steps do swing.
6-82205 is one I have coming soon. if no one posts before I get mine then I will post a picture.
I have the FEC. I picked it up yesterday and will crack it open in the morning. I will try to get some pictures posted.
Did Nassau's ship today? I have been checking my email and account with them but no tracking number yet.
They are up on the Nassau web page under new arrivals.
I called and paid my balance with this AM, but they said it wouldn't ship out until Monday.
I have the throubred es44 on order and the new sd40 with semi fixed pilots

Did the same thing myself. And, I, too, was told they would ship on Monday.
Darn I was hopping the moved the headlights and didn't tell us!
The headlights are in the correct spot for NS. Over the cab. Not sure about the other road names. I picked up both NS road numbers this week. Same sound set as the es44s relased last year. I see no difference in the tooling as compared to my CSX version and heritage units.

If in the fact the tooling is the same its kinda disappointing for a street price of $150 more.
Not to me. It is a toy train that runs on three rail track. It is a thing of beauty. I do not care if it is not accurate. I run my trains and enjoy them. None of that tooling correct or not bothers me.

I'm not disappointed at all about where the headlight is or the accuracy. My point was the only difference was an increase of about $150 "street price" for the same locomotive.
Labor increase in china
They are not cheap, that is for sure.
Marty. That FEC unit is a beauty. I am happy with my NS units. They are solid runners.Yes pricey but then again what isn't in this hobby?

So much for shipping Monday....it arrived TODAY! Nice job Nassau and USPS! Paid for on Christmas Eve (Thursday, probably 10AM) and USPS had it on my doorstep at noon on Saturday!
How is the horn? What does it sound like?

The skids came in late wed. and some went out Christmas eve, most all are labeled and will go out on Monday. We ship Fedex, UPS and USPS and most have limited shipping from Christmas eve thru New Years Day.
In other words we are ready they are not. We have 5 skids of outgoing ready. Thanks!
Charlie - I called around 10-11am on Thursday and paid my balance. NS ES44AC arrived at my Northern VA home from you around noon today (Saturday). You had told me it would ship on Monday, but you and USPS obviously got some out on Thursday afternoon.
Darth, Im glad you got yours. We made starter train sets a #1 priority as we didn't want to disappoint any kids first.

The same horn as the last run
I just got off the phone with Chris and paid the balance on my engine.
Engine represents a lot of firsts for me:
- first pre-order from Nassau Hobbies
- first modern Lionel locomotive
- first Legacy locomotive
- first NS locomotive

Different strokes for different folks, and we are all free to enjoy our trains however we like.
Myself, I like accurate models and I find the NS models to be decent representations of the real thing. What sold me on this model was the self centering pilots.
To me, it makes sense for manufacturers to make models as accurate as they economically can. That way, they would sell to both folks who want accurate models, and to those that don't really care.

Clearly there are a lot of folks who do care if these expensive engines are accurate. Many buyers would rather not have just generic versions of engines, but models that are as realistic as possible. Lionel is certainly aware of the need to make them as accurate as possible to satisfy that large segment of buyers, and has made that awareness clear with the road-specific variations they've announced for their upcoming SD-40s.
