The headlights are in the correct spot for NS. Over the cab. Not sure about the other road names. I picked up both NS road numbers this week. Same sound set as the es44s relased last year. I see no difference in the tooling as compared to my CSX version and heritage units.

If in the fact the tooling is the same its kinda disappointing  for a street price of $150 more.

Not to me.  It is a toy train that runs on three rail track.  It is a thing of beauty.  I do not care if it is not accurate.  I run my trains and enjoy them.    None of that tooling correct or not bothers me.

I'm not disappointed at all about where the headlight is or the accuracy.  My point was the only difference was an increase of about $150 "street price" for the same locomotive.

Did Nassau's ship today?  I have been checking my email and account with them but no tracking number yet.

The skids came in late wed. and some went out Christmas eve, most all are labeled and will go out on Monday.  We ship Fedex, UPS and USPS and most have limited shipping from Christmas eve thru New Years Day.

In other words we are ready they are not. We have 5 skids of outgoing ready. Thanks!

Well said, Marty.

Different strokes for different folks, and we are all free to enjoy our trains however we like.

Myself, I like accurate models and I find the NS models to be decent representations of the real thing.  What sold me on this model was the self centering pilots.

To me, it makes sense for manufacturers to make models as accurate as they economically can.  That way, they would sell to both folks who want accurate models, and to those that don't really care.

Clearly there are a lot of folks who do care if these expensive engines are accurate. Many buyers would rather not have just generic versions of engines, but models that are as realistic as possible.  Lionel is certainly aware of the need to make them as accurate as possible to satisfy that large segment of buyers, and has made that awareness clear with the road-specific variations they've announced for their upcoming SD-40s.
