just learned new Lionel SP AC9 is on the way. Am looking forward to running it side by side with earlier Lionel SP AC9 I have. Should be cool to have them both on the layout at the same time! Dealer says new AC9 is a prodigious smoker.

Congrats and post us some pics Harold. Interested on the tender lettering color of both versions.
Harold you are going to be happy. I picked up mine yesterday and I set both smoke detectors off in my basement. It really does put on a smoke show.
Enjoy!!!!

We had two here to run, never got that far. The coal was so poorly glued on most of it is loose all over the place & inside the packaging wrap. One had blinking cab light at power up, wouldn't move. Both going back, failures at this price point.
Sorry to hear aboit the failures. Of course, my general experience with high end locos from Lionel has been horrible. My new Legacy AC-9, however, is fantastic.

Hi Scrapiron Sher,
I am seriously considering the new 6-84248 from the Muffin. What model number is yours? Are you having any problems with it?
Thanks!!
RickM46,
I do not remember which number I have offhand. It is not the fantasy model. It is a truly fantastic locomotive and worth the price. Lionel got this one right.

If he was having issues with it, we'd hear about. Not a bad thing but Elliot is very vocal when a product doesn't live up to his expectations.
Thanks MartyE for the comment. I am hoping to see other new AC9 experiences.
Just ordered my AC9 from the Muffins - road number 3800 for delivery to my Florida address.
However, since I am in Florida for the winter and away from all my gear up north, is there anyone in the forum near New Port Richey, Florida that would be willing to let me test the AC9 on their Legacy Command layout when it arrives??

As in the other thread you mentioned these issues, I would almost 100% guarantee your defects were caused in shipping.
Elliot,
Saw your youtube videos on the AC 9; excellent; good tips on removing the foam inserts and hearing the whistle, seeing smoke production - first rate.
I have a few left - 48 and 49 - we sold 4 yesterday - better hurry - 2 left of each!
